10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Chris Benoit
4. Randy Orton Beat Him For World Title At SummerSlam 2004
Randy Orton has been one of WWE's two biggest stars in the last 12 years along with John Cena. His role in the company has been important as a guy that has mostly been a top heel that has also had some decent face runs too. Orton is a 12 time WWE World Heavyweight Champion that became the youngest World Champ in WWE history in 2004 when he was just 24 years old. Ten years later, nobody has beaten that record. It might never happen because WWE is reluctant to push talent at such a young age, so that record could be his for a long time. Who did Orton beat that evening at SummerSlam in Toronto on August 15, 2004? None other than Chris Benoit. It was a good match that was competitive in a face vs. face style that Orton won clean with a RKO in the center of the ring. As you might expect, WWE completely ignores the fact that Orton beat Benoit. They will mention that Orton is the youngest World Champion from time to time, but they can't say who he beat and probably never will.
