10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About John Bradshaw Layfield

John "Bradshaw" Layfield has been a WWE employee for nearly 20 years. He's been retired from in-ring competition since 2009 and is probably going to be in WWE's Hall of Fame in the very near future. These day fans know JBL as one of the main voices of WWE since he's been a regular commentator since the summer of 2012. He's also a one time WWE Champion that is best known for his pompous rich persona known simply as JBL. It's time to take a look at some of the things that WWE wants you to forget about JBL's career. These are things that aren't mentioned when talking about the best moments of his career. Some are storyline related. Other things are behind the scenes stuff. His WWE career had a few chapters. He started out as a midcard wrestler that was doing a tough cowboy type of gimmick. Then he became a part of the Blackjacks tag team with Barry Windham, which may have sounded like a good idea on paper, but it didn't work out very well in its execution. He found success as part of a tag team with the great Ron Simmons in a team known as The Acolytes. At first they were a heel team known for beating people up. Then they got to show their personalities more, they became babyfaces and the Acolytes Protection Agency (APA for short) became a popular team. It didn't appear as though he was ever going to be a main eventer, but when he changed his person to the snobby rich guy known as JBL his career took off in 2004. It's the persona he's used ever since then and he's most known for it. On a personal note, I actually wrote for JBL's Layfield Report website a few years ago. It was a great writing opportunity. I interacted with John a bit although not that much. I didn't leave because I was upset about anything. It was just time to do something else, so that's why it ended. This isn't being written to rip JBL or anything like that. He's somebody I respect a lot not only for having a great career, but for being somebody that has strong beliefs that he stands by. He's also good as a heel commentator in WWE these days too.
