Perhaps in an attempt to give Carlito a distinctive gimmick, once the shine of his initial run had worn off, he was paired with a number of female managers and valets throughout the rest of his WWE tenure - including Trish Stratus, Torrie Wilson, Brie Bella and Rosa Mendes. Of all of these, the most inexplicable was surely the first (Trish). His on-screen relationship with the Canadian Hall of Famer seemed strangely thrown together, and the pair demonstrated nary an ounce of chemistry as a couple. It didn't last very long at all, and ended abruptly when Stratus announced her retirement a couple of weeks later. The sceptical among us might cite this as another example of WWE meddling with a real-life relationship - similar to the rumours that have surrounded the Ziggler/Lana/Rusev triangle - as Trish was set to marry her childhood sweetheart upon retiring. How dare she have the temerity to settle down, and all that.
