10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Maryse

1. The Ted DiBIase/ Goldust Stalker Angle

As if to highlight the completely warped ethos of the company, instead of unsavoury attention by an overzealous member of the backroom staff towards Maryse leading to a disciplinary procedure, it translated into an on-screen angle. Essentially the victim was punished for her complaint.

For several weeks, videos trailed during the segments of Maryse and on-screen partner Ted DiBiase, bearing the claim 'I want you', though the recipient was intentionally ambiguous.

This obviously went on for a bit, until it eventually culminated in a Johnny Knoxville promo, because why not? After an inconsequential tiff between DiBiase and the Jackass star, Goldust revealed himself to be the stalker, laying out 'The Million Dollar Son' before turning his attentions towards his valet.

However, in an elaborate twist, it transpired Dustin wasn't interested in Maryse at all, but was in fact more enamoured by the diamond-studded Million Dollar belt. Goldust's gold lust, see?! Brilliant stuff.

Except it wasn't, it meant nothing, and only served to remind how pathetic and childish the company can be when dealing with off-screen issues.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
