10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The New Day

9. They Were Originally Going To Be A New Nation Of Domination

On their own dedicated episode of 'Table For 3', the New Day addressed the rumours that they were originally going to be the new Nation Of Domination - and clearly didn't think much of the idea. Although thankfully avoided, the creative decision almost came about after Xavier pitched an idea for himself as a snobby, suit-wearing heel, playing off of his real-life PhD studies. He then suggested bringing in Big E. Langston as a partner, who was floundering since splitting from Dolph Ziggler - although the debate over whether Kofi should join apparently lasted several weeks. Quite how this became a potential rip-off of the Nation wasn't actually elaborated upon, although the awkward, dismissive reactions of the trio on 'Table For 3' demonstrated exactly what they thought of the idea. Thankfully, the wrestlers somehow got their way - if only for a few weeks. On a July 2014 edition of Raw, a heel Xavier coaxed the babyface team of Kofi and Big E. into joining him, stating that they would never get anywhere by "kissing babies and shaking hands". Bizarrely, the new stable almost immediately disappeared from television, until suddenly reappearing in November as a trio of gospel-inspired babyfaces. That wasn't exactly a roaring success either, as we'll see later...
