1. He Was Suspended Shortly After Winning King Of The Ring
A great number of WWE superstars have earned themselves suspensions for violating the company's wellness policy, but Regal's can be considered genuinely shocking. The veteran seemed to have left his drug problems behind in the 90s, and it was sad to learn that he'd been busted for steroid abuse in 2008. Even more damaging was the timing. Regal was in the midst of a career resurgence, winning the 2008 King of the Ring (and defeating CM Punk in the final). His absence was explained in-storyline by a 'Loser Gets Fired' match against Mr. Kennedy, which he of course lost. As it was his second violation of the wellness policy, Regal was suspended for sixty days, enough time to rob him of the momentum built up by his tournament win. He did win the Intercontinental Championship towards the back end of the year, but even that reign didn't propel him to similar heights again.
