8. The Only Man To Retain His Title In The King Of The Mountain Match
One of the most unique and interesting concepts ever seen in TNA is the King of the Mountain Match. For those who havent seen this match in TNA, its basically a reverse ladder match, where one wins the match by hanging an object above the ring by climbing a ladder. However, to become eligible to climb the ladder, one must also score a pinfall of submission in a contest that features four other competitors. In other words, from a storytelling perspective, its easy for a challenger to win and difficult for a Champion to retain. Samoa Joe is the only person in TNA history to ever retain his championship in the King of the Mountain match. It requires one to overcome considerable odds, possess immense strength and endurance, and perfect timing to prevent someone else from taking your title. Samoa Joe defeated Robert Roode, Christian Cage, Booker T and Rhino to retain the TNA World Heavyweight Championship at Slammiversary 2008. But not only did Joe defeat all of them, he did something that no one else could do. Not even Kurt Angle, Mick Foley, or any other big name in TNA could repeat Joes accomplishment.
