10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 2011

What cheap hunt stunt landed Finlay in the unemployment line?

2011 was a strange old year for WWE. You could tell things would be a little different from the year's first PPV, the Royal Rumble, which featured 40 entrants instead of the traditional 30. The Miz was WWE Champion and main evented WrestleMania. THAT was weird. They you had all that strange CM Punk worked shoot business... Yes, things were definitely a little strange in WWE in 2011. As well as being slightly weird, 2011 was also year of the comebacks: Trish Stratus, Booker T, Kevin Nash, Mick Foley and The Rock returned to the company, providing a welcomed bit of nostalgia for longtime fans. While some major stars returned, one was forced to retire. Edge was ordered by doctors to cease wrestling immediately, following his successful defence of the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania. One of the greatest performers of the modern era, Edge's was a retirement that shocked the world, even though it had been on the cards for quite some time. There were plenty more twists and turns, both on-screen and off in the wacky world of WWE in 2011. As is often the case, the really interesting stuff happened backstage, away from the squared circle. Some of it you might not have heard of or simply forgotten about. We're here to remind you.
