10 Times AEW Saved Something That STUNK

3. The Suzuki Incident

Another show-closing botch, another rescue job.

Granted, The Suzuki Incident was a very minor mistake compared to the Revolution fiasco, but it was still a mistake. Before Minoru Suzuki's match against Jon Moxley, AEW's producers made the strange choice to cut Suzuki's entrance music just before it reached its legendary refrain. Chanting "Kaze Ni Nare" is always a highlight for a live wrestling crowd, and denying them the opportunity to do so was a weird choice from the production team.

Fortunately, AEW creative picked up the slack and wrote the blooper into the following week's show. Minoru and Lance Archer (an ally of Suzuki's from NJPW) ranted about how AEW stacked the deck in Moxley's favour, from scheduling the match to take place in Moxley's hometown, to psyching Suzuki out by cutting off his entrance music.

The Suzuki Incident was a minor blip in the grand scheme of things, but the fact that AEW created a storyline explanation for it shows volumes about their ability to adapt. AEW have always been great at reading the room and adjusting their product accordingly to give the fans what they want.

And on that note...
