After Jericho surprisingly retained the World Heavyweight title over Edge at WrestleMania 26, the decision came from McMahon to have Swagger cash in his newly-won Money in the Bank briefcase two nights later on Smackdown, and win the belt. While Swagger's reign would largely amount to little more than a forgettable three-month flop, Jericho saw to it that Swagger rose to the occasion during the title switch. When McMahon informed both Jericho and Swagger of the night's plan, Jericho says he took it upon himself to give Swagger some 'tough love', vowing to come after him if he screwed up as a champion in any way. This, per Jericho, was his way of getting Swagger to focus, even if the company really had nothing for the heatless grappler to do.
