Last year, we gave you the definitive rundown of why, despite being aggressively positioned as WWE's Golden Boy for the years ahead, Roman Reigns was booked to look like a bit of a dick.

As 2016 draws to a close, we took a look back at The Guy's progress over the last twelve months, and we soon worked out that once again, it's been a year of vintage dickery for the three-time WWE Champion and former Shield member.

From the very start of the year courtesy of his bizarre Rumble showing, right through Mania season and into the final throes of 2016, Roman has continued to overcome every obstacle thrown his way, jumped every hurdle, and, most importantly, be a Bit Of A Dick.

Because we're nice like that, we're gonna run you through ten instances when he turned the dickery up to maximum levels this year.

10. Not Defending The US Title

Member the John Cena Open Challenge? Sigh. After WWE spent the better part of a year successfully turning the US Title into the most interesting championship in the whole company, things started to go sour when Alberto Del Rio's grand return flatlined, before a bit of to and froing with Kalisto ultimately gave way to Rusev getting the belt back, with many expecting him to go on the kind of monster run that made him such a badass in 2014-15.

SORRY GUYS. ROMAN HAS OTHER IDEAS. Winning the title off Rusev, rather than go down the John Cena route of taking on all comers and being a fighting champion, Reigns instead opted to go for the trusty Dean Ambrose option: just keep it under wraps and hope people forget you're even holding it. Obviously, it's done wonders for the prestige of the title - especially seeing as Roman's now decided to ignore it completely and go for the Universal Title anyway.

Besides, the only thing guaranteed to further undermine WWE's endless attempts to get Roman over with a despairingly cynical audience is to have him squash an actual championship, right? Oh, the LOLs...
