Vince McMahon's win in 1999 is one of the most perplexing and pointless outcomes in the event's history.

The match was centred around the intense rivalry between Vince McMahon and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. McMahon entered the match with the sole purpose of preventing Austin from winning. The contest itself was chaotic, with McMahon spending most of it avoiding confrontation and hiding outside the ring. When he finally re-entered, he managed to eliminate Austin with the help of The Rock, securing an unlikely and unwanted victory.

While the storyline was entertaining in a soap opera kind of way, McMahon's win didn't serve much purpose in the grand scheme of things. As the company's owner, he didn't need the Rumble win to boost his status or credibility. Instead, it felt like a way to further the McMahon-Austin feud, which was already one of the hottest storylines in WWE.

"Stone Cold" went to the main event of WrestleMania anyway, but fans still have to see 1999 - Vince McMahon in the record books for one of the most important matches WWE has... forever.

Why, oh why, didn't they just let Austin win and get three in a row?
