1. An Early Pandemic Misjudgment

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, WWE held shows on a closed set with minimal original content spliced with recent matches, which while practical and more safe - the fewer people in an enclosed space, the better - didn't half make for some emotional whiplash.

Watching a stadium full of fans enjoying the Royal Rumble before the sharp pivot to echoey, eerie "Oh now I remember, the world is completely f*cking over" empty arena wrestling was just awful.

You can't really blame the talents involved for not volunteering to do anything during a commercial break, but WWE was thick enough to forget that certain international markets didn't align their broadcasts with it. The result, in the case of Bayley and Sasha Banks Vs. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, was two full minutes of a stoppage.

Usually, the ad break is just a slow heat spot anyway - you're not going to do your best sh*t when nobody is watching on TV - but since nobody was watching in the venue, either, the match simply...stopped.

Yes, this exposé was mildly humiliating for all involved, but since the reaction was identical to most RAW tapings post-pandemic, what difference did it even make?
