It was around about WrestleMania 13 that WWE began to recognise the significance of The Undertaker's gradually lengthening streak at 'The Show of Shows', which explained why The Deadman reverted to his debut togs as he took on Sid at 1997's iteration.

'Taker had never lost in the grey rubber gloves, and he didn't that night in Chicago either, claiming his second WWE Championship in the very same attire in which he won his first.
