10 Times WWE Were Obsessed With Strange Things
1. Throwing Sh*t Into Bodies Of Water
Revealed by Steve Austin and Bruce Prichard during their podcasts, the old-school writers' meetings around Vince McMahon's pool were often interrupted by someone being tossed into the water. Prichard claimed McMahon couldn't quite stay focus during one such meeting and kept reiterating how much he loved shoving people over the edge. However, McMahon's affliction didn't stop with swimming pools.
For the last few decades, WWE fans have witnessed countless wrestlers and objects tossed into the water. One of the most popular moments occurred when The Rock chucked the Smoking Skull Championship at 'Stone Cold' after throwing him over the ledge too.
There have been numerous reiterations of the stunt throughout the years, such as Rey Mysterio Hurricanranaing Jack Swagger into the Gulf of Mexico or John Cena hurling Edge into the Long Island Sound. Odd that McMahon favored these bodies because, as 'The Rated-R Supetar' learned the hard way, they were some of the most polluted and caused some performers to get sick for weeks.
Don't get the idea that WWE throwing sh*t into water is an event that rarely happens. Kane, Hardcore Holly, Al Snow (to name a few) were also victims of McMahon's strange sense of aquatic humor. Heck, CM Punk even had a 'Gulf of Mexico' match against Chavo Guerrero in 2008. One thing is for sure: if you see 'Big Mac' near any source of water, your best bet is to head in the opposite direction.
