10 Triple H Orchestrated Championship Screwjobs

On the first official episode of SmackDown, the company was looking to make a splash with Triple H vs. The Rock for the WWF Championship being announced for the evening’s main event. And as if that wasn’t enough, we also had Shawn Michaels appoint himself as the special guest referee to make sure the match was called fairly.

Except, the fact that Michaels had formerly been Triple H’s partner in crime during their D-Generation X days meant his appointment was hardly a fair one.

Having initially called it down the middle, even sending Chyna to the back in a bid to keep the peace, Michaels’ true colours eventually shone through.

With Triple H down and The Rock moments away from hitting the People’s Elbow, HBK intervened – or rather, his right boot did with Rock’s chin – laying the challenger out for the count and allowing Triple H to take his share of the spoils.

The two then celebrated as they headed back up the ramp to close the show, as it became all too apparent that Triple H had Michaels in his back pocket the whole time.
