10 Twisted Times WWE Rewarded A Wrestler For Being A D*ck
4. Hulk Hogan (1993)
At WrestleMania IX, Bret Hart worked incredibly hard to establish Yokozuna as a legitimate threat and future Champion. Also at that show, Hulk Hogan barely worked at all to nullify that in seconds.
22 of them, to be exact.
Having worked a Tag Team Title match in the midcard, Hulk Hogan's "friend til the end" bullsh*t was all well and believable with Brutus Beefcake, but the imagined kinship with 'The Hitman' that resulted in him taking a last-minute title match against new Champion Yoko was about as believable as the salt-in-the-eyes victory that followed.
If WrestleMania VIII's Hogan/Ultimate Warrior finale was a touch on the desperate side a year earlier, this was - in every sense of the word - sad. Vince McMahon presumably regretted this decision within weeks once he'd gotten wind of 'The Hulkster' bantering off the belt in Japan, and though it sent the fans in Las Vegas home happy, the same couldn't be said for Bret Hart and the colleagues left to make the towns for the company in Hulk's painfully predictable absence.
