10 Most Unique WWE Divas Gimmick Matches Ever

Prepare to get wet (and very wild!)

WWE.comWWE.comTo say the WWE Divas have competed in some of the most unique-yet-absurd matches in company history would be an understatement of proportions so massive that Jillian Hall's chest would be impressed. The women of World Wrestling Entertainment have competed wearing skimpy costumes, itsy bitsy bikinis and evening gowns while competing in swimming pools and giant bowls of gravy or eggnog. Paddles, pillows, bras and panties are key elements of the matches. The product of the brain surgeons working for WWE Creative, they became incredibly popular with the ever-important 18-35 male demographic. On the June 23 episode of Monday Night Raw, fans briefly revisited the days when pudding wrestling ran wild as Stephanie McMahon, Vickie Guerrero, Alicia Fox, Layla and Rosa Mendes all wound up covered in the chocolate concoction. Despite living in a world where Raw is rated a family-friendly "TV-PG" and moms and kids are as likely to take in a WWE event as oversexed young men, the reaction to seeing the beautiful women roll around in the dessert was quite impressive. It is incredibly unlikely that the events of Raw will lead to the return of the popular gimmick matches that gave fans a change of pace from the more traditional wrestling contest. The landscape of professional wrestling is entirely different than it once was. The product that WWE is turning out on a weekly basis simply does not allow for women in lingerie to roll around the ring, pulling each other's hair. The Divas today are presented as Sexy, Smart and Powerful and serve as role models for the younger ladies and girls in the audience. Reverting to the days when women were portrayed as sexual objects would ruin all of the work they did to change mainstream perception of its female talent. Still, the gimmick matches are part of the history of the WWE Divas. To a generation of fans, they were fun ways to break up the monotony of the male-centered product. They helped the women not necessarily associated with delivering strong in-ring performances remain relevant and popular and set up storylines for those Divas. With that in mind, sit back, relax, have some pudding or gravy and enjoy this stroll down memory lane. These are the 10 most unique Divas gimmick matches in WWE history.
