Today's WWE product isn't great for weapons-filled brawls, but there was a time when Raw, SmackDown, and pay-per-view broadcasts were festooned with bloody matches that popularised steel chair shots like they were the second coming of the basic headlock.

Everybody remembers matches like the brutal Hell In A Cell encounter pitting Mankind vs. The Undertaker from King Of The Ring 1998 and the wild, claret-soaked war between Eddie Guerrero and JBL from 2004's Great American Bash. Those bouts don't need any more attention than they already get, and it's actually those gems hidden away in wrestling's archives that merit deeper exploration.

How about the first ever female Hardcore match in WWE history, the countless chaotic 'Raven's Rules' brawls that Raven worked in WCW, or even TNA's bold attempt to stage a fight before fans had even entered the building?

Nobody talks about the matches featured here, and that really needs to change. With the advent of the WWE Network allowing access to all bar two, there's really no excuse...
