10 Ways WWE Could Have Improved WrestleMania 36

How to improve the weirdest WrestleMania ever (without putting it in a stadium full of people).

The fact that WWE delivered a WrestleMania at all is impressive under the circumstances. That it wasn’t an absolute car crash is borderline miraculous. It’s still up for debate whether or not they should have even attempted it. Still, there’s no denying that it offered some top-notch sports entertainment and gave many wrestling fans some welcome fun and escapism.

It seems almost churlish then, to point out how it could have been better. Then again, much of the joy of wrestle-fandom is picking fault, particularly with WWE’s inconsistent product. Let’s not pretend we’re suddenly above all that now. Bedsides, if Vince and company don’t want their current product to be criticised then they might consider doing the responsible thing and stop making it for a bit.

Of course there are blindingly obvious ways WrestleMania 36 could have been improved. One of those vast crowds we saw at all the previous ‘Manias would have been nice. Many would have preferred Roman Reigns as new Universal champion, or a tag title match fought by tag teams, featuring The Miz. But there’s no point dwelling on all that again. This article is about the things WWE actually had some control over.

10. Drones

A recent appearance on Corey Graves’ After The Bell podcast saw Edge reveal some early plans for his WrestleMania clash with Randy Orton:

”It had to be a fight and initially, I had ideas of drones and going on rooftops. And again, we’re filming during you know, sunlight so that’s not going to work. Okay, cool let’s shift focus here.”

It looks as though the lighting scuppered the plans but using drones would have created a cool visual and varied things up a bit.

It’s almost surprising it didn’t happen just to get one over on the competition. After all, WWE already built on the shoulders of Matt Hardy’s cinematic matches to much acclaim. In the spirit of oneupmanship Vince could also have had his own Vanguard One, or a fleet of them.

You’ve got to imagine Edge and Orton battling it out on a rooftop would have been awesome! Or would it? It’s hard to know but either way it would have been fun to find out.
