10 Ways WWE Has Shot Itself In The Foot In 2026

3. Bron Breakker Not Becoming World Heavyweight Champion

As mentioned early, Bron Breakker was the one to kick Seth Rollins out of The Vision. This was a huge moment for the young Steiner. Surely this would set him up as the next World Heavyweight Champion, so he could feud with his ex-leader upon his return? Yeah, about that...

The final months of 2025 had been one misstep after another for Breakker. Not only did he not win the world title, he wasn't even in the match for the vacant belt. It took until January 2026 for him to get his shot at the new champion CM Punk.

With the power of hindsight, it's easy to say that WWE made the right call in keeping the belt on Punk. If this hadn't happened, we wouldn't have gotten his excellent match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42. At the time, however, it felt like a massive mistake to have him retain.

Breakker hasn't felt the same since this whole debacle began. He now finds himself as a tag team champion as part of a midcard stable that's going nowhere fast. If WWE aren't careful, they'll lose this generational talent for good.
