10 Weirdest WrestleMania Openers In History

7. Paul Orndorff vs. Magnificent Muraco (WrestleMania II)

The second WrestleMania is still the most unique Pay-Per-View WWF/WWE have ever produced, taking place in three separate locations. Four bouts were staged in the Nassau Coliseum in New York, four in the Rosemont Horizon in Illinois, and another quartet took place at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, obviously in LA. It's perhaps therefore understandable that it was difficult to choose an opening match, but the double count out between Don 'Magnificent' Muraco and Paul Orndorff didnt really cut the mustard. Generally speaking, fans frown when shows are ended by screwy decisions, and the same can be said of the opener. People expect the opener and closing match to have clear decisions, it's just the way it is. A far better opening bout, looking at the matches from the Nassau Coliseum, could have been the one that followed up on Muraco vs. Orndorff, Randy Savage's Intercontinental Title defence against lovable mad man, George Steele. That would have had people up out their seats, instead of being annoyed by a non-decision.
