10 Worst AEW Booking Decisions

1. Dark Order Misfire

Considering how the Dark Order is now perceived as the ultimate feel-good babyface faction in AEW, it is strange looking back at their beginnings as a sinister cult that prayed on down-on-their-luck individuals. It is obvious that Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, Alex Reynolds, and John Silver were miscast as a dominant heel faction awaiting the arrival of the 'Exalted One' in 2019.

The faction's shortcomings were laid bare in the infamous show closing angle on the 18th December 2019 episode of Dynamite, where the Dark Order attacked The Young Bucks and SCU in a disastrous brawl. A number of awful worked punches were thrown by the 'Creepers,' but having the group close out an event in that way was ill-advised given that they had not gotten over to that point.

The turnaround in the Dark Order since then has been remarkable and the arrival of the 'Exalted One' Brodie Lee was a large reason for this. Having a proper star as the figurehead of the group made it a much more intimidating prospect and the faction would later become a sentimental favourite after the tragic passing of Lee in December 2020.

The Dark Order stands as evidence that AEW has the ability to correct course when the booking goes somewhat awry.
