10 Worst Booked WWE Champions Of All Time
9. The Big Show
The Big Show’s first WWE Title run came about from a matter of circumstance. Stone Cold Steve Austin needed immediate neck surgery in late 1999, which resulted in The Big Show taking his place in a triple threat match at the Survivor Series 1999 which also included The Rock and Triple H. Big Show would win the match as Vince McMahon wanted to try something “new and different” and Big Show winning the WWE title was certainly both of those things.
The problem with Big Show winning the WWE title was that he was in the middle of a feud with The Big Boss Man, which involved the infamous segment of Boss Man invading the funeral of Big Show’s dad and stealing the casket in the process. This meant that WWE were forced to finish the feud, meaning that a mid-card affair between Boss Man and Big Show was now suddenly a feud over the WWE Title.
Big Show faced the Boss Man at the Armageddon PPV in 1999, which would be his only PPV match as WWE Champion during this first run, a three minute squash that had no place on a PPV. On the 3 January 2000 edition of RAW, Big Show lost the WWE Title to Triple H, closing off his first World Title run at a lacklustre 50 days.
