Battleground 2017 was already an extremely dull show before the main event got underway, but that WWE Championship Punjabi Prison match essentially solidified it as one of the worst in many, many years.

Fans were intrigued by the return of Punjabi Prison considering we hadn't seen one in nearly a decade, but surely viewers had to know Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton would be deplorable, especially considering they don't work well together. As it turned out, it was every bit as bad as expected (and somehow worse), with the early goings boring fans to tears and the confusing rules causing the crowd to either revolt or sit on their hands.

In addition to interference from The Singh Brothers totally defeating the purpose of the cage, The Great Khali made a "grand" return to assist Mahal in retaining the title. The sheer sight of Mahal and Khali celebrating with the WWE Championship was an ugly one in the sense that it didn't give fans the slightest shred of hope for the future of SmackDown Live.

In a way, it was a fitting conclusion to this horrific show, but that doesn't make it any more bearable.
