10 Worst Wrestling Stables Of The '90s

8. The Truth Commission

Last group from the late ‘90s gang wars, I promise.

Born out of the USWA, the Truth Commission was not-so-subtly named after the Truth and Reconciliation Commission from South Africa. Except while the T&C Commission was designed to mediate trials and provide amnesty in the wake of the abolishment of apartheid, The Truth Commission were presented as palette-swapped Nation of Domination (i.e. they were a militant white separatist faction). Why anyone thought people would want to watch this in a wrestling program is beyond me.

Originally led by "The Commandant", a South African actor who had befriended Bret Hart, the Commission won the USWA tag titles three times before being called up to WWE, where they would soon find a new leader in the Jackyl, AKA Don Callis. Much like the Boricuas and DOA, The Truth Commission’s fatal flaw was simply that none of them were good at wrestling. Callis mainly cut promos for the group, and the wrestlers themselves included the former Mantaur, the future Bull Buchanan, and Kurrgan. Such lack of ability was evident at Survivor Series 1997, where in their 8-man match against the DOA, the best worker out of the entire bunch was Crush.

Thankfully, the Commission would quickly fade away, with Callis and Kurrgan moving onto a much... odder team.
