10 WrestleMania Main Events That Nobody Wanted To See

9. Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Lawrence Taylor - WrestleMania XI

Lawrence Taylor was one of the most gifted and dominant linebackers that the NFL had ever seen. A former NFL MVP, Taylor was a household name during the late 1980s and was one of the most popular football players in history. That doesn't mean he should have headlined a Wrestlemania. At an event that featured Kevin Nash vs. Shawn Michaels for the WWF world title, Taylor was put into the main event slot against the underrated Bam Bam Bigelow in hopes that he would draw a buyrate for the WWF during a very difficult financial time. The whole match was setup at the 1995 Royal Rumble after Bigelow had lost the tag team titles to the unlikely duo of the 123 Kid and Bob Holly. Lawrence Taylor was sitting ringside at the event and was taking great joy in making fun of the Beast from the East. Bigelow responded by shoving Taylor to the arena floor, earning himself a dirty look from LT and some brief mainstream sports coverage. While the angle may have drawn the attention that McMahon desired, did it really deserve to headline the biggest show of the year? Not only that, but Taylor actually won the match clean in the middle of the ring. This would be the equivalent of Michael Strahan showing up at Wrestlemania and being booked to defeat Sheamus. The internet would actually explode if that happened today. But, back in 1995, that's exactly what happened. Bigelow laid down for Taylor because he was promised a main event babyface push in the months following the show. However, the infamous Kliq squashed that push before it event got started and Bigelow left the WWF soon after. On the plus side, Bigelow scared the living Hell out of Salt N Pepa during his entrance, so it wasn't a total loss.
