10 WrestleMania Matches We’re Still Waiting To See
Somehow there's still a couple of Undertaker matches we're waiting to tick off...
In the grand scheme of things, WrestleMania has been pretty good to us when it comes to delivering those major main event matches.
The pay-per-view has played host to three separate Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock bouts, a pair of back-to-back classics between The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, as well as more recent show-closers like Daniel Bryan’s miracle on Bourbon Street or Seth Rollins’ heist of the century.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that over the years, a fair few dream matches have slipped through the cracks and failed to materialise, despite having initially been teased to some degree.
Whether it be due to guys being in the wrong place at the wrong time, plans being changed off the back of injuries, or just classic WWE flipflopping, plenty of ‘Mania matches that at one point seemed likely to come to fruition have been altered, dropped, or simply haven’t been booked yet.
That’s left us with a crop of WrestleMania matches that fans are still eagerly anticipating, and while some still have time to become a reality, others may not be so lucky…
10. Triple H Vs. The Rock
Back in October 2014, one of the biggest rivalries of the Attitude Era was reignited when Triple H and The Rock came face-to-face in a backstage segment. Then, at the following WrestleMania, they built on that meeting with an in-ring confrontation that eventually led to Ronda Rousey getting her hands on Stephanie McMahon.
The expectation was that these brief reunions were paving the way for one final Triple H vs. Rock showdown, most likely at WrestleMania 32, what with 100,000 seats to fill and all. But ultimately, that showdown never happened, meaning that these two titans are still yet to meet in one-on-one action on the WrestleMania stage.
Perhaps their segment in Santa Clara was supposed to be the pay-off to this revisited feud, but even so, it still feels like there’s an itch here that needs to be scratched.
Though the match should’ve probably taken place years ago and with both men still in their prime—at WrestleMania 2000, say—the added sub-text of what these two have achieved since means there’s still a huge amount of intrigue surrounding one final chapter in this decades-old feud.
