10 Wrestlers AEW Saved From Retirement
1. DDP
The beloved Diamond Dallas Page is a wrestling icon who garners about as much hate as a puppy. Nobody seems to dislike the guy, as he's mostly known to be genuine and nice, with his famous yoga course even saving lives. As such, it's lovely that AEW allowed him a swansong.
DDP made his name as a top guy at WCW, then as a woefully misused talent in WWE, and eventually a Hall of Famer. He left the world of regular in-ring performances behind around 2005, slowing his schedule down after a stint in TNA. His most notable appearances from then on were guest spots in the Royal Rumble and the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
It seemed that the auteur of the Diamond Cutter was done, as he didn't step into a ring again for four years after said Battle Royal. Sure, he had ties with AEW as a companion to Cody Rhodes, but he wouldn't wrestle again, right?
Well, AEW allowed him to go at it one last time, pitting him in a tag match alongside Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall against The Butcher and the Blade and MJF at Dynamite Bash at the Beach (how fitting).
He did lose the match, but seeing him dropping Diamond Cutters and wicked clotheslines one last time was a treat.
