Watch any WWE pay-per-view from fifteen years or more ago, and its likely youll be watching a card half-full of wrestlers who are sadly no longer with us. Drugs, heart attacks, drugs, suicide, more drugs the ways in which theyve bowed out are like a checklist of human tragedy. But theres something perverse about the accidents while travelling. Wrestlers spend so much of their time on the road or in the air travelling from show to show, its a miracle it doesnt happen more often but when it does, its unutterably sad, in a way that more human tragedies like overdoses just cant match.
