10 Wrestlers Who Committed Disturbing Crimes
3. Ion Croitoru - Blowing Up A Police Station
Ion Croitoru's wrestling résumé reads like fan fiction.
Debuting in Stampede, he defeated Jerry Lawler for a heavyweight title in the AWA, wrestled for the WWF, NJPW, FMW and SMW before retiring in the mid-'90s.
Ion Croitoru's rap sheet, on the other hand, reads like a Mario Puzo novel.
The president of an Ontario chapter of Satan's Choice Outlaw motorcycle club, Croitoru had served prison time for both assault and trafficking cocaine, before his problems with the law reached a fever pitch in 1996.
After he and several friends were ejected from a strip club for wearing their colours, Croitoru and his pals decided to get revenge - by blowing up the club.
Realising such an event would incur the wrath of local police, they decided it would be more prudent to simply blow up the police station instead.
Serving three years for the bombing. By the time he got out in 2000, he was already under investigation, this time for a 1998 murder of a lawyer and her husband - for which he was fortuitously acquitted.
Arrested again for murder in 2013, Croitoru was finally snared. Sentenced to thirteen years in prison, he only served three before being released to live in a halfway house where he died in 2017, shockingly, of natural causes.
