10 Wrestlers WWE Regret Releasing
4. Alundra Blayze
Along with the likes of Bull Nakano and Bertha Faye, Alundra Blayze was part of WWE's attempts at reviving their women's division in the 1990s. She was highly successful, notching three Women's Championship reigns during her run with the company, and featuring at the heart of most of the division's key storylines. 1995 was a difficult year for her, however, and after winning the title for the final time in October, Blayze was let go in December.
WWE's ongoing financial troubles were cited as the reason, and Alundra was cast into the wilderness. Frustrated, she decided to sign for WCW just a few days later, and made her first Monday Nitro appearance on 18 December. Through technically stripped of her title, Blayze took the actual belt with her and tossed it into a trashcan on live television, stating, "that's what I think of the (WWF) Women's Championship."
Eric Bischoff was giddy, but WWE, predictably, were not. They didn't publicly acknowledge the stunt, but Blayze was blacklisted from the company for 20 years, and WWE didn't reinstate the title until 1998.
Their stance later softened, and Alundra was eventually inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 2015, but the company could have avoided much humiliation had they not disbanded the women's division.
