10 Wrestlers WWE Treated Terribly On The Way Out

WWE wrestlers and employees who were told not to let the door hit them on the way out.

WWE's business can be a cold, cold affair.

Today's heroes can become yesterday's news fast, and any lingering sentimentality seems to be totally selective. For every legend given a huge onscreen send-off, there's a hardworking veteran (literally) sifting through bin bags to find their stuff. For every celebrated Hall Of Fame induction, there's a cruel slice of public humiliation lurking just around the next corner.

Admittedly, this has always been part of a much larger pro wrestling problem. The industry chews people up, milking them of their value, before spitting them back out. WWE, as the market leader, could set a better example though. Yes, they could, but the nonstop 'cha-ching' noises of company tills drowns out any need for that.

So many wrestlers and employees have been treated disgracefully on their way out the door over the years, and that's the focus here. Some examples are recent, some are older, but all of them share one thing in common: WWE's cut-throat culture was going to put them in their place one last time.

Don't let that door hit you on the way out...

10. Mickie James

There's no better starting point than this.

Mickie James blew up social media by posting a picture of what WWE had sent her after terminating her contract on 15 April. Basically, they packed her remaining personal items into trash bags and mailed them off to her. The symbolic nature of this should not be lost on anybody.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon responded by apologising to Mickie, and it appears WWE has cut ties with Mark Carrano (the guy blamed for this incident). Some fans on Twitter are also a bit confused as to why there's such an outcry about this - a few even stated that the black refuse sacks would be preferable to clear, see-through ones.

Fair enough, but it's the coldness of this that surely stunned Mickie. She's a veteran who has worked tirelessly across multiple stints with the company. Then, suddenly, they cast her aside and almost literally said, 'Take your trash with you'.
