When WWE's Saudi travel woes caused most of the blue brand crew to miss the 1 November SmackDown, Daniel Bryan summoned management and said, 'Bring me Adam Cole'. The NXT invasion became a bigger focal point of the program after that, and Bryan got his wish.

Well, some of it anyway.

According to Cole on WWE Backstage, Daniel wanted their match to last a full hour. WWE chiefs were never going to go for that, but they did give both wrestlers full autonomy over the content of the bout, and agreed that Cole should pick up a surprise win to close out the broadcast.

There will be a portion of hardcore fans out there wishing upon the stars that Cole vs. Bryan had gone 40 minutes longer. It's not like WWE hasn't booked 60-minute matches on SmackDown before, and those guys could've filled that kind of time without protest. Perhaps it'll happen someday.
