Guys like Shawn Michaels, Pat Patterson and Bruce Prichard laughed when Mick Foley told HBK about the childish Dude Love character he'd created as a teenager. After letting the cat out of the bag, Mick thought he wouldn't hear anything more about it. He was wrong.

Prichard sold the off-shoot gimmick to Vince McMahon, and the boss loved it.

On Something To Wrestle With, Bruce said he then approached Foley, told him how much McMahon had enjoyed the idea and that creative were considering running with it. Now, it was Mick's turn to giggle, and he blew off Prichard's remarks as if they were a joke.

Prichard still isn't sure if Foley believed the WWF were serious until a few weeks in. Once Dude debuted on television, there was no turning back; Bruce added that the promotion wouldn't be so silly as to put time and effort into something just to rib someone.
