It seems fairly rudimentary to proclaim that the professional wrestling business has changed over the years, because many of these changes are obvious. In-ring work is much quicker than it once was, moving at a breakneck speed compared to many matches taking place in the 1980's.

A lot of this has been attributed to the evolving style of the North American independent scene during the late-1990's and into the new millennium. Ring Of Honor workers in particular have in the past been heralded for melding the more industrious styles of Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels with the fundamentals of Japanese and Mexican wrestling, creating a much more speedy in-ring performance.

Once known as Tyler Black in ROH, current WWE star Seth Rollins says it's not only the way wrestlers work inside the ring that's different nowadays, it's how they train outside of it. Candidly stating that WWE Superstars are not "cartoon characters" any longer, Rollins said this week that the days of training solely to have a larger than life physique are over, and fans find it much easier to identify with the performers of today, due to their more realistic proportions.
