SummerSlam 2004 will forever be remembered for three things. First, Randy Orton becoming World Heavyweight Champion. Second, Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero. Third, the epic, remotely-filmed 'Divas Dodgeball' contest pitting 'Team Diva Search' vs. 'Team Diva'.

Only kidding.

The Undertaker vs. JBL in the co-main event spot tops that. It's memorable for a 'Taker Chokeslam on JBL through the top of the heel's limo, but things could've been very different had WWE listened to 'The Deadman's' idea. He wanted to lose clean to JBL and help establish him as a a true main-event star.

Bruce Prichard said on his weekly podcast that 'Taker was keen to give Layfield a leg up. Creative disagreed, feeling it was unnecessary for The Undertaker to lose that way when he'd only just returned to playing his supernatural character months before at WrestleMania XX. So, the finish was tweaked to a DQ victory for JBL instead of a clean pinfall one.
