10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Jan 19)
Find out which spot Chris Jericho cancelled at Judgment Day 2002...
Haters worldwide should brace themselves, because there's every chance John Cena will smash Ric Flair's record and win a historic 17th World Title in 2018.
Cena has been a genuine WWE headliner for close to 15 years now, but he didn't get to where he is without some help. Legend has it that those SmackDown Halloween party segments in 2002 were the launching point for a rapping gimmick that changed Cena's career. Whilst dressing up as Vanilla Ice did let him show off some personality, there was someone behind the scenes telling creative about Cena's rhyming talents.
Find out who that was in this week's article.
Here's a clue: it wasn't someone on the writing team and they didn't appear on that October 31, 2002 SmackDown special either. Instead, it was a guy who admired Cena's drive even back then and decided he should go to bat for his friend...
10. Chris Jericho Was Recently Mistaken For Edge
We've already written about how Sami Zayn was mistaken for Zack Ryder when holidaying in Iceland. Now it's Chris Jericho's turn to play a game of mistaken identities with the general public.
On Talk Is Jericho, Y2J told how a staff member at a gas station he was fuelling up asked him if he was 'one of them wrestlers'. When Jericho said yes, he was, the woman took a moment before telling one of the most famous faces in the industry that he was Edge. Naturally, Jericho informed the lady she was wrong and went to leave the store.
This gal wouldn't take no for an answer. She was so determined to prove to Chris Jericho he was actually called Adam Copeland that she followed him out of the building and got in his face. Laughing about the incident now, Jericho recalls screaming that he's "not Edge, damn it" as the woman continued using her unique brand of investigative technique.
At least she got the country of origin right.
