10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (May 15)

1. Tensai Was Scheduled To Main Event SummerSlam 2012

Kevin Eck is one former WWE writer who will probably never be asked back onto the team. Revealing all sorts of juicy gossip through his regular blog, Eck recently shed light on the confusing derailment of Matt Bloom's career in 2012. Following a successful stint in Japan, Bloom was rehired by WWE and recast as 'Lord Tensai'. Pushed right out of the starting blocks, he was then subsequently jobbed out rather suddenly. According to the former pen-pusher, Tensai was scheduled for bigger things than just a grand debut, and was actually earmarked to headline Summerslam opposite John Cena just months after his reintroduction to the WWE system. Obviously, that never happened, but Eck also iterates that Tensai's samurai character was originally to be managed by James Mitchell, best known as The Sinister Minister of ECW fame. Fans will never know how good a Tensai main event push would have been, but it did seem pretty odd that he was staring at the lights for pretty much everyone after all the hype before and during his first appearances back in the company. Going further with his claims, Eck even told during his blog that Tensai was tentatively cast as a former prison inmate, instead of the samurai schtick.
