7. Magnum TA Thought Cody Was Dead (Not Dusty)
In October, 1986, Terry Allen was robbed of his professional wrestling career. Crashing his car due to treacherous weather conditions, Allen's C-4 and C-5 vertebrae literally burst, meaning he was in critical condition. The accident ended his in-ring tenure prematurely, but he is still lauded as someone who would have become World Champion. One of the men who championed 'Magnum TA' was Dusty Rhodes. The pair became great friends through their association in the wrestling business throughout the 1980's. Away from the ring, Dusty and Magnum were buddies, something they often shared in front of the cameras. Indeed, Magnum even helped Rhodes during his feud against The Four Horsemen in the NWA. It's no surprise then that Magnum was shocked to learn about the death of a friend. Incredibly, Allen was driving when he heard about the incident. Speaking to Jim Ross on the Ross Report this week, he tells of how he pulled over and checked his mobile phone to see what had happened. Logging on to Wikipedia, the man was stunned to see a date of death next to Cody Rhodes, who performs in WWE as Stardust. For at least the next few minutes, he grieved the idea of Dusty's boy passing away, being learning that it was actually 'The American Dream' himself.
