10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (Oct 27)
Kurt Angle wasn't WWE's original choice to replace Roman Reigns at TLC...
Nobody could have guessed that Kurt Angle's first match back in WWE would be a 5-on-3 TLC war, let alone that the Raw GM would replace an ill Roman Reigns to become an honorary member of The Shield for the night. Hell, throw in the fact that Kane (a man Angle faced way back in 2001 at WrestleMania X-Seven) was also involved and the situation becomes even more bizarre.
Kurt wasn't WWE's first choice for the role, at least not according to Dave Meltzer and The Wrestling Observer. It makes sense that WWE would be hesitant to throw a ring rusty Angle into the lion's den so early, especially with a money-spinning 'Mania match to come. Another legend was the preferred option then, but who?
That story is joined by facts about everyone from Cesaro and Goldust to Mick Foley and The Road Warriors. There's also a stunning admission from AJ Styles about how he and Finn Bálor went into business for themselves at TLC...
10. Sasha Banks TLC Gear Was Inspired By Owen Hart
She might not have been on the actual pay-per-view card proper, but Sasha Banks still fancied leaving an impression on TLC. Debuting some new pink and sparky gear for her Kickoff match against Alicia Fox, Banks later told WWE that the new look was inspired by none other than Owen Hart.
This fact comes from a bonus clip WWE uploaded to their YouTube channel, so a lot of fans might not have seen it. Banks is married to WWE seamster Mikaze, and it was he who put together the new outfit for the event. If only he'd put 'I Am Not A Nugget' on there somewhere. We're only joking, of course.
Sasha didn't go into details on exactly why she decided to pay tribute to Hart. This isn't the first time she's had gear made to honour legends though. Previously, her attire has had a touch of Eddie Guerrero about it. Maybe next time she can go the whole hog and wear a Hart Foundation leather jacket.
