Edge and John Cena had countless matches against one another in WWE, including major pay-per-view bouts at Unforgiven 2006 and Backlash 2009. The pair had great chemistry together, and they knew it. On the E&C Pod Of Awesomeness this week, both gave insight into that chemistry.

Hilariously, Cena and Edge referred to one another as 'Shoe' backstage. To confused onlookers who didn't get the joke, this must have been strange, but the nickname came about because both felt like wrestling the other was akin to slipping into a comfortable pair of shoes. Neither had to work especially hard to bring the best out in the other man.

Edge wondered on the podcast if AJ Styles was now Cena's new 'Shoe'. The Canadian backed that up with glowing praise for matches between Cena and AJ at SummerSlam 2016 and the 2017 Royal Rumble. The situations are similar because AJ (just like Edge) had something to prove as a headliner in both matches.
