10 Wrestling Matches With The Most Unexpected Consequences
9. Braun Strowman Vs James Ellsworth - WWE Raw 25/07/2016
Though various allegations against him might have soured some people's view on the man, there was a time where James Ellsworth was an extremely popular part of WWE's roster.
He famously pinned then-WWE Champion AJ Styles (after a heavy assist from Dean Ambrose) and won the first ever Women's Money in the Bank ladder match!
Which makes about as much sense now as it did in 2017.
All of this started for the chinless wonder when he became the first victim of a newly repackaged Braun Strowman.
After failing to impress in The Wyatt Family, Strowman came out on the July 25th 2016 episode of Raw with a new look and a new fearsome attitude. His opponent that night was a jobber by the name of James Ellsworth.
Ellsworth wasn't supposed to get over, but endearing dorkiness and catchphrase "Any man with two hands has a fighting chance" earned him a lot of support. A few months later, Ellsworth was signed to a proper WWE contract.
From a one-off enhancement talent to a staple of the SmackDown roster, Ellsworth made the most of his minutes and turned his 15 minutes of fame into a lifetime of recognition.
