8. Bret Hart Vs Goldberg - WCW Starrcade 1999
Ever wondered why Bret Hart has massive beef with Bill Goldberg? This is why.
The main event of WCW's biggest show of 1999 was Starrcade, the company's equivalent to WrestleMania. The main event for that show was a truly tantalising clash between world champion Bret Hart and challenger Goldberg.
During a sequence in the match, Hart bounced off the ropes to take a thrust kick from Goldberg. The master of the Jackhammer must have thought he was back in his football days, because he kicked Hart really hard directly in the head.
Despite finishing the match and working for a few more weeks afterwards, Hart's days in the ring were numbered as soon as the kick hit. He received a major concussion that would force him to take time away from the ring and eventually retire from wrestling for good.
Unless you count that run he had in WWE in 2010, which you shouldn't.
One errant kick was all it took to end one of the greatest wrestling careers of all time. Few could have predicted that such a dream match would end under such tragic circumstances.
