On the 23 August 2016 episode of Talking Smack, SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan and Intercontinental Champion The Miz were both guests on the show. Before long, Bryan insulted Miz by deriding his wrestling ability - more specifically, he accused the IC champ of using a "soft style" and "wrestling like a coward".

That incensed The Miz, who took some low blows in response - namely, he called Bryan the real coward for retiring when he promised the fans he'd be back, and told the GM that his wrestling style must be superior to Bryan's, given that he's never been hurt. Eventually, things got so heated that Bryan left the set.

Fans everywhere were talking about how The Miz went too far and how brutally insulted Bryan was. While it's true that the promos weren't scripted word for word, there was a general idea of what was going to happen, and Miz and Bryan are close friends who intentionally struck at each other's sensitivities. Bryan admitted he was angry during the segment, but it was the type of anger than fed into a great performance, not the type that impeded it.
