Wrestling is an art form which can inspire many emotions in its viewers. It can fill us with righteous anger, or leave us saddened by a travesty of justice. It can make our jaws drop in awe at the capabilities of the human body, or sickened by man’s capacity for violence.

Most of all, though, it’s supposed to make us smile.

There’s so much wrestling content out there that obviously not all of it is going to be any good, and some of it is downright garbage for any number of reasons. But at its best, at its purest, there’s nothing better to cheer you up, which is more important than ever in times like these.

Whether that’s due to a deserving performer finally getting the recognition they deserve, a much-loved star making an unexpected return, the culmination of a well-crafted storyline, or just a really, really good wrestling match, the business is capable of generating the kind of entertainment that nothing else really can.

So if you’re feeling stressed, or the current craziness is getting on top of you, we’ll bet these matches will get you smiling once again...

10. Neville Vs John Cena (Raw 2015)

John Cena’s 2015 run with the United States Championship saw him hold a weekly open invitational, and it wound up being among the best things he had done in the ring for a while. This peaked with his Raw match against the Geordie high flyer Neville, which was a showcase for the then up-and-coming NXT graduate, and a reminder that Cena is capable of far more than his much-maligned five moves of doom.

Neville is made to look like a million dollars here, and while his usage would be questioned further in his career, he seemed destined for greatness as he goes toe to toe with one of the biggest names in the biz, countering the STF and kicking out of the Attitude Adjustment.

Cena, who always seems to work better with more technical wrestlers, is such a great fit for Neville that it’s a shame they never tried this again. The match ends on a DQ, which makes sense while being disappointing, and the two never crossed paths again - with more time, they could have put on a five-star clash. Instead, this is a brief but very pleasant surprise.
