From @JR_O6: What would it take for WWE to fully trust its current stars and not rely on Cena and Orton so much?
It's all about the basic essential things that we all know are important: selling tickets, selling merchandise, creating a ratings increase on television and generally creating a buzz surrounding the business. That's what made Steve Austin and The Rock into top guys. It helped John Cena too. He was "moving the needle" as they say. That's the thing that WWE is always looking for. Call them a draw or attraction. It's what the wrestling business always needs. Who's it going to be? No idea. Let's just hope that it's somebody on the roster right now that can catch fire and hopefully the rest of the business becomes bigger because of it. WWE is always search for the "next" guy. It's not as easy as it sounds. Also, even though people are sick of Cena and Orton, it's not like they are bad performers or past their prime. Cena's 37 years old, Orton is 34 years old and both of them have several years left as top guys.
