9. Comparing Raw To SmackDown In Terms Of Match Time
From @BronxCobra51 Because Raw is so promo heavy, what is the average overall match time per week versus Smackdown?
They feel about the same. While it would be difficult to calculate all the numbers and then compare them, just from watching both shows every week, there's not a discernible difference. The one thing that is definitely different between the two shows is that there will be weeks of Raw (like the last two weeks, actually) where the main event is a promo. On Smackdown, the main event is almost always a match and that match typically gets about 10 minutes or more. For that reason you could say Smackdown is more of a wrestling show. Both shows start with promos at the beginning because Vince McMahon must feel that's the only way to start a broadcast. It's so frustrating because it feels so repetitive and there's rarely anything "must see" in the intro. Some weeks Raw is promo heavy, but then you might get a week where they have four matches getting 12 plus minutes and the in-ring action is incredible because of it. The problem is that when you have a three hour show there's so much filler that people sometimes forget that Raw can have great matches. There's really not much of a difference from the two shows other than Raw running three hours and Smackdown going for two hours. In terms of importance, obviously Raw is the bigger of the two and always will be.
