10 WWE Questions You Most Want Answered (May 4)
3. Which Moments Made Me Embarrassed To Be A Wrestling Fan?
@HandsomeBeardo asks a question many wrestling fans are forced to confront at one point or another. The industry is often scoffed at by non-fans, and sometimes it really doesn't help itself...
Personally, two moments stick out in my mind. Eugene's entire run in the early 2000s was something I, as a child, found very confusing. My brother has autism, and seeing a character with a mental disability ruthlessly mocked on Raw every week was something I now look back on as absolutely unacceptable.
A more modern example would be John Cena's humiliation of Michael Cole. That segment wasn't just uncomfortable on a surface level - it also portrayed WWE's top babyface as a bully, picking on those weaker than him.
It also involved a man being smeared in BBQ sauce, which is never high on my list of entertaining wrestling segments.
Again, an absolute embarrassment, and not something I'd want to be caught watching.
