10 WWE Returns Everyone Asked For (Which Ended Up Sucking)

1. Goldberg

Not rearing his glorious dome in The Land of the Giants since stinking up MSG with a Beast in 2004, fans had long been salivating over the thought of Bill Goldberg finally coming back to WWE for one last wrecking ball spell.

An announcement that Da Man would be included in the WWE 2K17 video game as a pre-order bonus was the first seed planted. And before long, Goldberg had been lured back onto Monday Night Raw by Paul Heyman, with the humble advocate challenging the star who had been missing for 12 years to face-off against Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series.

A jaw-dropping squash win for the grizzled former WCW man followed, but then WWE got a little trigger happy, didn't they?

A fun Lesnar feud was signed off at 'Mania 33, but the burying of stars like Kevin Owens and The Fiend over the course of a turbulent five-year stint in WWE has left many fans regretting their calls of "GOOOOOOLDBERG" for over a decade.

Admittedly, WWE seem to have cooled off on any more unwanted world title runs for the veteran in recent times, but you get the feeling McMahon is only ever one rotten Raw away from strapping Da Man again.
